Reagan has to prove herself to an elite group of special agents—and avenge her mother’s death—in the second book in the Black Angel Chronicles from the author of You Don’t Know My Name.

Going rogue in an effort to rescue her kidnapped parents has cost Reagan Hillis her automatic ticket to the Training Academy. But becoming a Black Angel is the only way Reagan will be able to exact revenge on her mother’s merciless killer, Santino Torres.

When Reagan is given a chance to prove that she’s worthy of training to be a Black Angel, she also gets the first chance she’s ever had to be her true self. No aliases. No disguises.

But when her friend Luke joins her at the Black Angels training compound, Reagan finds herself once again torn between the person she was and the person she wants to be. Reagan has to prove that she’s as good as her parents trained her to be, because she’ll never find Torres without the Black Angels’ help.

About Kristen Orlando

Writing is one of the great loves of Kristen Orlando’s life and she's been lucky enough to make it her living—first as a television producer, then as a marketer and now as a novelist. Kristen graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from Kenyon College. She lives in Columbus, Ohio with the other great loves of her life, her husband Michael and daughter Samantha. You Won’t Know I’m Gone is her second novel.

Welcome to Jena’s Bookworms
Tell us about your writing career. How long have you been writing? I’ve been writing short stories and plays since I was a kid but it wasn’t until college that I realized I could really make a career out of it. I majored in English at Kenyon College and then worked as a television producer and marketer before deciding to try to write my debut, You Don’t Know My Name. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have had one of my first books (I wrote something pretty terrible in college) get picked up by a publisher. But in-between college and getting my first book deal, I wrote every single day for my job. Those ten years without a doubt helped to make me a much better writer. I don’t think I could have written this book without all of those years of experience.

How did you choose your genre?
I love thrillers and I love spy stories! This book came to me in the shower of all places after watching the spy movie, Red. So I guess in a way, the genre chose me.

Tell us a little about the books you’ve published. Series, or stand-alone?
My first book You Don’t Know My Name was published in January 2017 as the first book in the Black Angel Chronicles trilogy. My second book You Won’t Know I’m Gone is the sequel to my debut.

What inspires your work? Really great art. Be it a beautifully acted or directed movie or an amazing piece of music or an incredibly well-written novel. When I watch or read or hear something that moves me, I get really excited and remind myself that I get to do that, too! I feel so fortunate that I get to create something that could potentially stir up some type of emotion in people because that’s what I’ve dreamt about doing my entire life. It reminds me just how lucky I am and then I get down to writing.

Who are your favorite authors, and what is it that draws you to them? Oh, gosh! So many. So I’m just going to pick one young adult and one adult because I could seriously list one hundred authors. One of my favorite YA writers is Jennifer Niven because I think her descriptive writing is gorgeous. And one of my favorite adult writers is Gillian Flynn because she’s a ridiculously great plotter (and insanely good writer as well).
Are you working on a story now? Finishing the third book in The Black Angel Chronicles! And then I’ll begin writing a fourth book that will be a stand-alone. I’m having a blast writing this last book in the trilogy, but I’m looking forward to writing something brand new.

Here is the summary for You Won’t Know I’m Gone.

Reagan has to prove that she's as good as her parents trained her to be, because she’ll never find Torres without the Black Angels’ help.

What do you anticipate your release date to be?
January 16th, 2018. Book 3 in the series will release January 2019.

Any stories sitting on the back-burner?
So many! They’re all contemporary or thrillers. I’m looking forward to writing new books.
