A stubborn teen faces off with her brooding, indifferent (but super hot) soulmate in this unique and sexy take on a classic paranormal romance story.

She’s met her mate . . . and he’s met his match.

Megan Ross has been waiting her whole life for her mate to come and sweep her off her feet. But the wolf she meets on the beach is NOT the sweet gentle boy she’s been dreaming of. Instead, he’s a warrior, one whose suffering has led him to lock his heart away in a prison as cold and hard as a diamond, who fights to resist the bond and their deep attraction.

Far from home, with a soulmate who is still a stranger, Megan learns that the path to true love isn’t quite as straight and easy as she thought . . .

Chosen by readers like you for Macmillan’s young adult imprint Swoon Reads, Alyssa Brandon’s debut novel Bound to You is guaranteed to make readers swoon, sigh, and maybe even cry before it’s over.

An Interview with Alyssa Brandon

Welcome to Jena’s Bookworms with Brandy Mulder

Tell us about your writing career. How long have you been writing? When & why did you start?

I’ve always had a lot of creative ideas and even as a kid I was always thinking up stories, so maybe I could be one of those cliche people who claim I’ve always I’ve always been/ wanted to be a writer?

Except, thinking back, I believe I spent most of my childhood wanting to be a Dolphin Trainer...

I think I started writing “seriously” when I was about 12-13 years-old so well over 10 years now. Wow, I’m getting really old :P First it was all fanfiction (and probably really terrible) but it progressed into more and more original stuff.

How did you choose your genre?
I think it just happened pretty natural, I read a lot of urban fantasy / paranormal romance stories back when I first wrote Bound To You. In fact I still do. So it just made sense I ended up writing a paranormal romance novel.

Tell us about your book?
Bound To You is a NA (new adult) paranormal romance book. It’s a little different than a lot of paranormal romances. “Normally” we have a human girl that falls in love with a supernatural creature, but in my book, the main character (Megan) is a werewolf herself and the book focuses on her and her werewolf mate, who turns out to be nothing like she imagined him to be. It’s a little bit of a twist on the whole soulmate concept, because even though James and Megan are mates, they still have a some things to work through before getting their happily ever after.

So many of us are intrigued by covers and titles. How did you come up with your title?
Bound To You is actually the book second title and it was something me, my editor and the rest of the Swoonread team talked and thought about. We had a lot of different options and ideas for it and Bound To You was what we all liked and felt worked best! I’m really happy with it and think both it and the covers work perfectly with the story!

What inspired Bound To You?
I had the idea for the world and for Megan and James’ story separately. The world was something I’d been thinking about for a while, wanting to write about different types of werewolves and the evil monsters that were after them. So when I started the story with Megan I wasn’t sure about the world at first, just that I wanted to write a story where finding her soulmate didn’t solve all of main character’s problems or made their relationship automatically work out perfectly.

Who are your favorite authors, and what is it that draws you to them?
I really enjoy a number of different authors, Patricia Briggs, Richelle Mead, Kim Harrison are some of my favorite urban fantasy writers. I love the way they create worlds and make us care about the characters at the same time. I love Meg Cabot because she’s such a clever and fun read in every genre she writes. Also Emma Chase and Penny Reid for the way the write romance and their fun and unique characters.

Are you working on a new story now? If so, please share a little about it?
My next project is an alternate history with lots of fun stuff like reality TV, fancy dresses, a prince and a bit of mystery. While it’s still early days I’m really excited about it.

Any stories sitting on the back-burner?
I’m working a little on a on a possible sequel for Bound To You and I’d love to do write a story to do with time travel so that’s something I’ve been thinking about!
