Guest Post by Christine Hwang Panzer

Ahoy to all those out there on the horizon! It’s your matey, Christine here. It’s curious to see when I realized I wanted to be an author and if it was a lifelong dream or if it happened later on. I didn’t realize I was sitting on a treasure trove of ideas because I was stuck in my insecurities.

It was actually after I got an acceptance letter from an art school I wanted to go to—they actually said they were not super impressed with my art portfolio, but they loved my personal essay and thought I could join their creative writing program.

I already struggled with my self-esteem with my art and had always thought of myself as an artist or someone who really liked to draw and definitely didn’t think of myself as a writer since there was already someone else in my friend group who was amazing at it. But I started to dabble here and there in writing blurbs and musings in college.

It had always been very hard to develop the ideas I had though, and I would often get stuck, leaving stream of consciousness documents to gather dust for years. I do continue to have those dreams though, of making all the wonderful children’s books and graphic novels and illustrated books I want to…eventually.

It wasn’t until recently that I’ve been able to unlock developments in my storytelling skills and things have come a lot more naturally, especially with a bunch of practice doing smaller things — one of which is actually Bunster, An Easter Story. And look where the story has gotten me now!

I am so proud of my cool lil’ yellow-jacket-wearing bunny and his gang of ducklings. They’re representing the Easter crowd, I hope?! It’s so exciting to see where they go. I am so honored to be able to enjoy the ride their story might take me on!



 
Meet the Author:

Christine is an artist that dabbles in storytelling and enjoys working in different mediums including marker, ink, watercolors and colored pencil. She enjoys drawing fantasy creatures, anthropomorphic animals, and kids. She lives with her husband, Ian and sweet black kitty, Kida in the Bay Area, California and likes to take walks, go out driving, and play video games and board games with her friends.
