Willie can't
help but worry. Worrying is the worst thing ever. And now his owner wants to

doomed! What if things go wrong? What if something bad happens? Will Willie
make it? Or will worry get the best of him?

Q&A
What was your inspiration for writing your book?
I was inspired to write this book about worry because I,
myself, struggled a lot with anxiety growing up and even to this day. My
parents also struggled with worry and, honestly, I think it runs in my family.
But I know I’m not alone. With everything kids these days have to
face—bullying, isolation, the negative impact of social media, and even current
events—anxiety and mental health struggles have become its own pandemic in a
way. And kids need something to help them, even if it’s just a simple book that
teaches them, “Hey, we can get through this!”.
Talk about your favorite kind of character to write about
The type of characters that I gravitate towards are those
who don’t really have it altogether and who struggle with themselves. But
despite their struggles, they still try to do the right thing or just need a
little guidance to do the right thing. I believe those characters really speak
to all of us because we all struggle. And even those who are good at hiding
that, it doesn’t make those struggle non-existent and it doesn’t change the
fact that we’re all only human.
Talk about your least favorite kind of character to write
about
The least
favorite characters that I try to avoid writing are those who have it
altogether all the time without any depth of how they ended up that way. These
characters are simply born perfect and go through life effortlessly. Honestly,
not only are they not interesting, but they’re unrealistic.
Describe your ideal writing space.
My perfect writing space, honestly, would be a perfectly
quiet space, alone and away from the world. But besides a physical location for
me, many times it also needs to be a state of being. I write well when I’m well
rested (or well caffeinated) and when I don’t have hundreds of things going on
in my mind at once. I write well when I’m grappling with a problem that deeply
affects me. I guess it’s all a state of mind and a state of space.
