Interview with J.N. Sheats

Welcome to Character Madness and Musings. Please, tell us about your newest book.

It’s a coloring book for all ages. And it is Halloween themed. A few years ago I published my first coloring book with this set of girls I came up with called Dainty Damsels, and my latest release is the new collection of Damsels all set for Halloween.

Tell us a little bit about your writing career.

While my latest release is a coloring book, I am an author as well. I published my debut novella back in 2014, had a good two year run at writing then switched to coloring books once the coloring craze started. I still am writing and working on my books, but it has been a long road of getting back into writing for me.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently working on the next novella in my Opsona Journey Series. Which is about vampires, demons, and gods. It’s a dark fantasy adventure with a lot of paranormal twists to it, along with a strong female lead. The book is called Savage Deceit

Is there a release date planned?

Right now I am looking at an early November release.

Who is your favorite character from your own stories, and why?

Joey, because she is very relatable character. She’s an average girl with an average life, and she gets throw into this world of paranormal craziness. She has her breakdowns, but the girl keeps on going and I admire that.

Most writers were readers as children. What was your favorite book in grade school?

I actually wasn’t a reader as a child. I hated reading because my mom told me I was too stupid to read. Harsh, right? That’s my mother. Anyways, I didn’t discover my love of reading until a lot later in life, and now I can’t get enough of books. I actually have gone back and read a lot of books my peers were as children and I have found that I loved the Into the Land of Unicorns series. Had I been allowed to read as a child that would have been my series.

What are your plans for future projects?

Well, I finished Savage Deceit and am getting ready to edit the book. As for other projects I have my second novel in the works. Dreamscape which is a paranormal horror thriller, and also looking to do a holiday coloring book with the Dainty Damsels.

Good luck with Dainty Damsels, and thank you for being with us today.
